Is A Stainless Steel Bbq Better Than A Charcoal One?
A stainless steel BBQ makes a lot of sense if you look at the benefits they provide. Granted you need to spend a little more on a Gas Grill, but many people go through multiple charcoal barbecues in their lifetime, whereas gas BBQs are more durable.
As soon as the weather turns warmer people's thoughts turn to the outdoors and to inviting friends round for a 'barby'. Whether you are in the US, UK or Europe, barbecuing in your back garden is becoming more and more a favourite past time. What better way than to grill a few steaks and invite some friends over to spend an evening in your own back garden socialising over a glass of wine.
In the past charcoal BBQs have dominated the barbecue market, but there are reasons why gas grills are taking over the no 1 spot.
Why choose a Gas Barbeque Grill:
♦ Quick to get a fire going: With a gas grill you no longer have to contend with getting just the right amount of charcoal, layering it correctly and all the other hassles of getting a charcoal fire going. A gas barbecue grill on the other hand, is quick and easy to start (often with electric ignition), and the temperature is easy to control. Gas barbecues can be connected directly to a gas line or fueled via a refillable propane tank. Once this is done, the grill turns on with just one switch and you're ready to add on the food for cooking!
♦ Better Control of the Cooking Surface: With charcoal grills it isn't as easy to control the temperature of the cooking surface. Some people use lighter fuel to get a BBQ going quicker but this leaves an unpleasant odor which permeates the food.
Many gas grills feature a temperature control knob allowing you to raise or lower the cooking surface temperature. They also typically have multiple burners allowing you to change the temperature for different types of food, much like an outdoor cooker. This makes it a much more manageable task to cook a variety of different foods that require different cooking times and temperatures with ease.
♦ Easy Clean Up: With charcoal barbeque you have to wait for the charcoal to cool off and then find some way to dispose of them. The beauty of cooking on a gas barbeque grill is that you simply wipe the grill surface clean and turn off the fuel!
♦ Add aromas to your cooking: Another great aspect of a gas barbeque grill is the ability to add aromas to your foods without that heavy charcoal and starter odor. Wood chips flavored in hickory, cherry, mesquite or cedar wood or apple wood chips add great variety to any barbecue.
♦ Rotisserie: With a Charcoal Bbq there is no way of turning meat automatically. But with many gas grills you have a rotisserie grill that turns on its own, creating succulently cooked food that isn't burnt.
So overall you can see the advantages of gas over charcoal. This is not to say that you can't have a good charcoal bbq experience and indeed it can produce great results.
But for the serious barbecuer who wants to spend more time with the guests than trying to get the BBQ under control, gas is the obvious choice.

gas grill recommendation?
Hi, i need a recommendation to buy a gas grill,i never bought a gas grill before. i'm thinking a grill that can :
1) give me a good heat eveness,to cook a good steak, so maybe something that can sear meat better too, like stainless steel or cast-iron or procelein-coated cast-iron?? what is the different between these 3 type of cooking surface? which one sear meat better and easier clean up?
2) some area for keeping the food warm.
3) thermostat on the lid so i can know the temp inside the grill.
4) Side burner
5) preferable with electric ignition. not very important.
as i'm new to gas grill, i would like to know more about lava rock or wood, i think i read it somewhere people put lava rock or wood in the gas grill to give extra flavour, so how to do that? can i do that on any type of gas grill or only on certain models that allow this?
my husband doesn't like to use propane, we are thinking to use natural gas from the house.
